INTRODUCTION :
The sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is a form of therapeutic vaccination for IgE-
mediated allergic diseases ,with the potential of inducing an immune
tolerance.Recent studies suggested that this innovative treatement may prevent
the allergic patients from the allergic asthma onset as well as from new
sensitizations to other inhalant allergens.
AIMS OF THE WORK :
We aimed to highlight the change of the allergenic profile of the patients treated
with a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) using Skin Pricks Tests.
METHODS :
It is a prospective, longitudinal study including stable allergic patients to house
dust mites (HDM) or timothy grass pollens (TG) confirmed with prick tests or in vitro
total serum specific IgE antibodies. The allergenic immunotherapy was administred
in the forms of sublingual tablets.
We assessed the SLIT efficiency using a symptom and a medication score every 6
months .A Prick skin test was performed annually. It included the most common
allergens. We used a physiological saline and histamine as a negative and positive
controls.A drop of the allergen was introduced in the skin using a lancet .Then , we
observed the response 15 mn after .The average wheal diameter of
Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (DP) and Dermatophagoides Farinae (DF)
(DP/DF) was recorded. We also divided the larger of the house dust mites wheal
diameter by histamine to get the skin index test.Indeed, the skin prick test scores
were graded using the skin index values (<=0.5 (1+), >0.5-<=1(2+), >1 -<=2 (3+),>2(4+)).
RESULTS :
We included 32 patients with a mean age of 21 years. From which, we enrolled 18
men and 14 women.
An allergic rhinitis was reported in 30 patients, an allergic asthma in 22 patients , an
allergic asthma in 22 patients ,an allergic cunujunctivitis in 15 patients and an
allergic dermatitis in 2 patients. Besides, 14 cases were monosenstized and 14
cases were polysensitized. Most of them had reported a regular SLIT intake (83.3%).
