CONCLUSION
It seems that nurses dominate the relational side and pain management, much
more than the medical-centered approach to patients at the end of life. However,
in such patients, more comprehensive care is essential to improve “end-of-life
quality”. In order to optimize the palliative care, doctors would benefit from being
supported, early in the disease process, by pivotal nurses. The latter can replace
the doctor to meet several needs, and in sharing information and explanations
requested by the patient or their family.
